MYCITI COMMUTERS TOLD TO BRACE FOR DELAYS AFTER BUS BOMBED

CAPE TOWN – A MyCiTi bus has been destroyed after it was petrol bombed in Joe Slovo Park.

Residents who are protesting against evictions in the area are behind the attack, which took place on Sunday.

The City of Cape Town’s Brett Heron says commuters may experience some delays on Monday as several routes have been changed.

“We have deviated some of the routes. The trunk routes 4 have been deviated. The Phoenix MyCiTi bus station has been closed.”

! Route 261 has been diverted via Koeberg Rd. Phoenix, Kiwu, Democracy North & Venus stops will be missed.

CAPE TOWN – Cape Town Traffic services has impounded 52 taxis in several South Peninsula communities.

Areas including Westlake and Vrygrond have been the scene of taxi violence in recent weeks.

During an operation in Vrygrond, Westlake and Heathfield officials arrested two suspects for outstanding warrants.

They served 17 warrants and issues 90 fines for various offences.

CAPE TOWN – Four teenagers have been arrested after a man was shot dead in Atlantis.

Brent Kruger was caught in gang crossfire on Wednesday. He was in his car at the time.

Cape Town police say that the four suspects who have been arrested are aged between 15 and 18.

Kruger is believed to have dropped his child at crèche, before being caught in the crossfire of rival gangs.

Atlantis ward councillor Barbara Rass, who was on the scene following the shooting, says that the community is outraged by what happened.

“It is shocking and tragic. It’s as if there’s no respect for human life. It’s my concern for the community.”

Police say the suspects will appear in the local magistrates court once they’ve been charged.

14-YEAR OLD BOY SHOT DEAD IN CAPE TOWN

  • A 14-year-old boy was shot dead in Kensington, Cape Town, on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said the teenager was killed at about 8:40 in Ventura Street.

A case of murder has been opened and anybody with information is asked to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or the investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Smart on 021 594-7033.

Further information was not available from the police, but the Independent Online reported that the boy, Lushane Goliath, was shot in the head.
