CAPE TOWN – Some good news for Klipheuwel residents in Cape Town on Sunday.
Nearly 800 families living in an informal settlement have now been connected to the electricity grid.
It follows a series of protests in that area over the lack of basic services.
The City of Cape Town says the municipality had to first purchase the land from a private owner before it could build the necessary electricity infrastructure.
Spokesperson, Zara Nicholson says, “We’re very proud that we were able to do this.
“The mayor thanks the community for their patience and perseverance. And again, it just goes to show that when we work together we can enhance service delivery.”
