CAPE TOWN – Security across all Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) campuses has been beefed up.

The institution was forced to close its Cape Town campus earlier this week due to protests over student accommodation.

Protesters forced staff and students out of buildings and started a fire in a hall.

Classes resumed at all campuses on Tuesday.

CPUT’s Lauren Kansley says that their grievances around residence placements were resolved in a meeting held on Monday night.

“Security across all campuses has also been increased. Strict access control measures are in place across the buildings.”
