CAPE TOWN – Firefighters are on the scene at Van Der Stel station, in Stellenbosch, where a train carriage is on fire.

One carriage caught alight earlier on Saturday, with no reports of other nearby structures or the other carriages burning.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.

The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services’ Theo Layne says there have been no reports of any injuries.

“The cause we cannot determine yet, we are still extinguishing that fire. Only the one carriage was severely affected by the fire this far.”
