CAPE TOWN – The Knysna fire has claimed another life bringing the death toll to four, the Western Cape government has confirmed.

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) personnel will be assisting with water bombing operations to extinguish the blaze.

The lush vegetation that usually greets motorists upon entering Knysna has been reduced to a charred landscape.

 

Knysna resident Adrian Egerty says they were at home on Wednesday night and that most of his family’s posssessions went up in flames.

Meanwhile over 2000 people have been displaced and rendered homeless by the Cape Town storm.  The Imizamo Yethu informal settlement, 700 residents were affected by heavy rain and gale force wind.
