Never mind the unnatural water crises currently battling the City, whether you live here or visiting Cape Town, we all know what time and month it is… Winter for sure! For some this is very difficult and boring season, but for some of us who like it wet or dry (of course with loads of activities that suits the weather), winter season can be very interesting just to know or develop the right interest, passion or friends to engage yourself and possibly knowing where to find whatever you might need to enjoy and relax in the ‘mother City’ when the already buzzing and busting winter alarm begins to blow pretty loud.

It is a planned City, pedestrian-friendly, less statics on traffic; all are welcome to do what they wish at any time, and since Cape Town has been turned into a place where people can holiday their entire life; ExpressCapetown has gone to the field to detect what is good for the season, recorded below these 11 exotic list of adventures to indulge in this month of June. Enjoy Cape Town From ExpressCapetown!

  1. Shop Ahead of winter

This is the right time to get some warmer fabrics and beddings as winter gradually trickles in and soon take center-stage.  Winter stuff naturally becomes very expensive at the shops. So take advantage of time; buy your leather jackets, cardigan, sweaters or jerseys to ensure you always dress warm as weather changes quickly in the City so as to guard against cold. You might consider washing your blankets and beddings as well or to simply shop new ones before demands outwits supply and sometimes what you like becomes unavailable in the ‘heat of winter’. You can find some nice winter wears at Century City shopping mall, V&A Waterfront or any other outlet.

All the roads are structured and linked so you can ride around whole City on just your bike. So hit the pedal… Go! Go! Go bra!

  1. 8. Catch an Autumn LeafSAM_1746

May/June is the best time to plant winter vegetables and shrubs. Peter Okafor. ExpressCapetown

If you own a garden or a little space then plant trees and shrubs. It can be very rewarding especially to those of us who love planting; autumn is a favorite season for some reasons. All the leave from the trees and plants change into multi-coloured works of art and then fall away. I love those Ivies, Liquid Amber, Petunias, perennial herbs such as Rosemary, Organum, Parsley, Thyme, Oak trees and Ornamental vines just to name a few. These trees according to one expert, Stark Ayres (manager Garden Centre West coast) create bare branches allowing the autumn sun into your garden and home, what a surprise! This is precious and also, it represents a beautiful cycle of loss, regeneration and regrowth once the spring season is around.

Again May/June is the perfect season for planting your winter vegetables. With winter already here, we can start looking forward to stews, saying goodbye to Braais. So establish those trees just before the onset of winter Citrus trees are also a brilliant idea at this time of the year.
