SHAME: CAPE ACTIVIST IN DRUNK DRIVING

CAPE TOWN – A police corruption whistle-blower is facing a mountain of charges, the latest is a drunk driving case which was laid at the weekend.

Police say Arendse was arrested for drunk driving and when cops questioned him, he allegedly claimed to be the traffic chief of Worcester.

Arendse was due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday on charges of drunk driving and impersonating a traffic official.

Arendse is a member of the ANC, a paralegal and is an activist who exposes police corruption.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says: “The above-mentioned person was arrested in Maitland on 13 May at about 11:20pm and detained at Maitland SAPS for drunken driving.”

He appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday on the said charges.”

Arendse also has pending cases of domestic violence [two cases], common assault and contempt of court on his rap sheet.

In December, Arendse exposed a private national police WhatsApp conversation between Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Khombinkosi Jula and top cop, Major-General Gregory Goss, in which they call a Mitchells Plain community activist, Michael Jacobs, a nemesis.

On Monday, Arendse denied the allegations, saying cops were conspiring against him because he exposes them.

“I am a member of the ANC, I am in the forefront of exposing the police,” he says.

“I have never been arrested, I was not in Maitland on Saturday.”

He said “for what it is worth, I can’t drive”.
