CAPE TOWN – The Western Cape government has received a 100% clean audit for the 2015-2016 financial year.
The Auditor-General also awarded clean audits to 23 out of the province’s 30 municipalities.
Finance MEC Ivan Meyer says Oudtshoorn and Kannaland are among the municipalities highlighted as problem areas.
Meyer adds the Cape has the best performing provincial government for the fourth year in a row.
“Firstly, it means that taxpayers’ money is well spent. Secondly, it means no fraud or corruption. Thirdly, it means service delivery is prioritised through budgeting and implementation and finally, it creates investor and business confidence to create jobs in every town in the Western Cape.”
