CAPE TOWN – A giant image of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is currently being mounted on the side of the Civic Centre in Cape Town.

The artwork, in honour of the Arch and his wife Leah Tutu, will stand alongside one of former president Nelson Mandela.

Artists Linsey Levendal, who also created the Madiba installation, was commissioned to design the artwork which features a rainbow symbolising the term ‘Rainbow Nation’ which was coined by the Arch.

The city’s Pierrine Leukes said: “It will be a daily reminder of all the sacrifices that were made for our freedom and help us to claim the rights with conviction.”
